The Rocklin Police Department said it responded to Target when the store's loss prevention team reported "a known shoplifter" had a cart full of high-value items.

Loss prevention told officers the suspect pushed a shopping cart out of the fire exit in the past, police said.

Shortly after officers arrived, police said the suspect, 58-year-old Lance Murphy, pushed the shopping car out of the fire exit but walked away from the cart when he saw officers waiting.

Murphy was arrested for grand theft and three misdemeanor warrants out of Placer County.
