Sheriff: Suspect Broke Into Business, Hit Water Line, Found Dead In Flooded Building

REDDING (CBS13) – First responders in the Redding area made a gruesome discovery inside a flooded building.

According to the Shasta County Sheriff's Office, crews were called to the Oak Tree Furniture store around 12:30 p.m. on Monday after the owners saw water leaking from their building.

Inside, the business was flooded with water. Upon closer inspection, the body of a man was found.

Deputies believe the man had tried to get into the building through the roof, as the place his body was found could only be accessed from above. The man must have broken a water line at some point during the incident, causing the flooding.

Exactly what killed the man is still being determined.

The man has been identified as 32-year-old Brandon Dee Ebbs, a man originally from Texas.
