Lanes Of Busy Citrus Heights Intersection Reopen Following Scooter Crash

CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) - Two men were injured, one critically, after crashing their scooter in a busy Citrus Heights intersection.

At around 3:30 a.m., the men were riding on a scooter at Sunrise Boulevard at eastbound Antelope Road in Citrus Heights -– possibly riding in the road against traffic -- when they hit the center divider and skidded about 250 feet through the intersection, according to authorities.

Both men were taken to the hospital. One man is in critical condition with head injuries and the other is in stable condition.

Police say neither rider was wearing a helmet. They also say alcohol may have played a part in the crash.

Traffic lanes that were closed for the investigation have reopened.
