San Juan Water District Asks Residents To Stop Outdoor Water Use

GRANITE BAY (CBS13) — The San Juan Water District is now asking people to stop all watering outdoors in the midst of a historically dry California winter.

The move comes after a suggested 20 percent reduction in overall water use in homes that could move up to 50 percent if the winter leaves Folsom Lake dry.

That means the Krause family will need to change their game plan when it comes to how much water they use.

"We'll have to try and live within the guidelines, I guess, and see how that goes," said Paul Krause, a father of four.

At the Granite Bay golf Course, the greens are already looking brown as the superintendent tracks the levels of Folsom Lake.

With little hope of rain in the long term forecast, residents are left to hope for a winter deluge.
