San Joaquin County Levee Breach Prompts Mandatory Evacuations

The breach was halted as of 9:15 p.m.

8:50 p.m. UPDATE: Crews have been able to slow the flow of water through the breach, but the evacuation orders will remain in effect until further notice.

Officials say the affected area will be to the north and east of the damaged levee.

MANTECA (CBS13) — A levee breach has prompted mandatory evacuations in San Joaquin County.

The breach is on the eastern side of the San Joaquin River in the area of 1119 Parren Road.

Mandatory evacuations are in effect, bordered by Woodward Road to the north, Union Avenue to the east, and down and the river to the west. It extends south to the county line.

Lathrop Community Center is open as a Red Cross shelter at 15557 Fifth St. in Lathrop.
