Southbound I-5 traffic north of Stockton slowed due to big rig crash

CBS News Sacramento

SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY – A big rig that was hauling batteries has crashed into a ditch along southbound Interstate 5 north of Stockton Wednesday morning.

The crash happened just before 6:30 a.m. near W. Peltier Road.

Exactly what led up to the crash is unclear, but the wreck did close all southbound traffic for a short time.

California Highway Patrol officers at the scene confirmed that the trailer was carrying batteries. None of the load appears to have spilled, however.

Due to the crash, CHP is warning that the number 2 lane is expected to be closed for an extended period. Drivers should expect delays.
