Salinas Man Nabbed For Selling Fireworks On Facebook

SALINAS (AP) - Authorities have arrested a Salinas man on suspicion of selling about 1,800 pounds of illegal fireworks through Facebook.

Salinas police say 33-year-old Daniel Alcocer was taken into custody Saturday following a sting operation.

Police say investigators received a tip that Alcocer was selling large quantities of illegal fireworks through the social media network. An undercover officer made arrangements to buy the fireworks at the suspect's home, and when they met Alcocer led the officer to a large shed where all the fireworks were kept.

Police said the officer arrested Alcocer after completing the deal.

Police said the fireworks, consisting of small explosives and aerial fireworks, were worth about $20,000.
