Sacramento's Ace Of Spades Will Become House Of Blues After LiveNation Acquisition

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A popular Downtown Sacramento music venue came alive on Wednesday after news that it was being bought out by music giant LiveNation.

Ace of Spades will now be operating as the company's newest House of Blues.

It's a new tune for one of Sacramento's hottest live music venues.

"You get pretty big bands and down there—it's music seven nights a week, big on the weekends," said music lover A.J. Saccacia.

Fans say House of Blues is a household name that attracts everything from pop to rock to classic.

"I feel House of Blues will bring in more eclectic stuff that we maybe haven't programmed in the past," said founder Ace of Spades founder Bret Bair.

He says the decision to sell to the world's largest concert promoter made sense. The amount the company paid is under wraps, but the music giant's bright future in Sacramento is hard to keep a secret.

"After our place, Ace of Spades, outgrows that venue, they'd like to have a venue of 2,500 or larger to be that next play," he said.

Bair says LiveNation is eyeing a second location in the downtown area, hoping to tap into the vibrant, but underserved music scene.

Shanall Eaddy manages a local R&B artist.

"I think the artists of any genre are actually going to be looked at more--so when it comes to the opportunities, there's going to be more," Eaddy said.

The founders will stay on board and remain in charge of booking and promotions.
