Sacramento To Throw Block Party For MLS Commissioner Visit

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Sacramento officials are planning a block party to welcome the commissioner of Major League Soccer when he visits on Thursday.

Commissioner Don Garber is scheduled to visit on April 14. Tuesday, Republic FC – Sacramento's USL Pro team with MLS aspirations – released on Tuesday a preliminary itinerary of activities Garber will take part in during the visit.

Garber will meet with Mayor Kevin Johnson and Republic FC lead investor Kevin Nagle. He's also scheduled to tour the Downtown Railyards location where city officials have been talking about possibly putting a soccer stadium.

The block party is expected to be held on L Street between 15th and 16th Streets.

Activities will begin at 11 a.m. Expect L Street in the area to be closed for several hours.
