Sacramento State Student Who Helped Stop Paris-Bound Train Attack Back In United States

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — One of Sacramento's hometown heroes is back in the United States.

Anthony Sadler's plane landed in Oregon just past 2 p.m. on Tuesday. He's expected to make his way back to Sacramento before the fall semester at Sacramento State starts on Monday.

Sadler, Spencer Stone, Alek Skarlatos stopped a gunman on a train bound for Paris on Friday. The three friends who tacked a suspected gunman and saved the life of a wounded victim were awarded France's highest civilian award, the Legion of Honor by French president Francois Hollande.

Sacramento State president Robert Nelsen said the campus is overwhelmed learning Sadler is set to return to school this year, a kinesiology senior but also a hometown hero. Calls have been coming in to the school from donors eager to pay for the senior's final year of school.
