Sacramento State Grads Hope To Score With Pick-Up Basketball App

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Twin brothers who are also Sacramento State graduates are hoping to create a new way anyone can get in a good playground basketball game.

Donte and Dominic Morris are trying to take pick-up basketball to the next level. These brothers have their own tech careers, but they're turning a phone into a pick-up basketball database, a place to find a live, pick-up basketball game anywhere in the world.

The Morris brothers invented the app Hoopsmaps together. They grew up playing pick-up basketball, but as adults, finding games became a challenge. Now they're looking for a shot at entrepreneurial success.

The app opens to a map of the world. The users check in with a location and a time. Games are listed in blue, when the games start, the games turn orange.

Their biggest location is in Oklahoma City.

Hoopsmaps now has 1,000 users and it's only been live for a couple of months.
