Sacramento Resident Shoots Burglary Suspect Caught In The Act

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A Sacramento resident shot an intruder reportedly trying to break into their home on Tuesday morning.

The family was inside their home in the 8900 block of Autumnwood Drive, which is near Watt Avenue and Folsom Boulevard, around 2 a.m. when someone reportedly tried to break in. One person inside the home grabbed their gun and shot the suspect who then ran away, according to Lt. Lisa Bowman, a spokesperson for the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

The resident says they knew the suspect on a first-name basis.

Bowman says there was no blood found inside or outside of the home.

Deputies found a screen that had been cut and possibly as an entry point into the home. They also found shell casings inside of the home, consistent with the report.

Detectives will investigate the case further. No arrests have been made.
