Sacramento Republic Face Big Test On Saturday In Race To Host USL Playoffs

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) —  The Sacramento Republic will be part of a four-way battle for first this weekend when they play at Bonney Field.

The Republic beat the Orange County Blues 1-0 on Wednesday to push three points into the lead in the Western Conference playoff race with five games left. The Republic at 4-0-2 in their last six matches and haven't lost since July 24.

They'll meet the Vancouver Whitecaps at 8 p.m. on Saturday at Bonney Field. The Whitecaps are currently tied for second in the Western Conference.

Earlier in the day, the two teams rounding out the Top 4 in the Western Conference will battle. The Colorado Springs Switchbacks will play at the Rio Grande Valley FC at 5:30 p.m. PDT. All four teams are separated by just four points.
