Sacramento Registrar: No Provisional Ballots Left To Count In District 7 Congressional Race

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — With the provisional ballots affecting the District 7 race counted by the Sacramento County Elections Office incumbent Ami Bera has a lead of more than 1,400 votes over challenger Doug Ose.

Sacramento County Registrar of Voters Jill LaVine told CBS13 that of the 4,300 votes left, there are no provisional ballots left to count in the District 7 race.

"What's left to count is not in District 7," she said.

A physician who won the 7th Congressional District seat from a Republican two years ago, Bera held an edge of 1,432 votes Wednesday out of more than 183,000 ballots cast.

The race became the nation's most expensive congressional race with $19.6 million in total spending.

Bera took the lead over Ose on Nov. 12. The Democrat had been trailing since late on Election Day when the results were coming in, trailing by more than 2,000 votes as of Nov. 7. The race drew closer after Nov. 10 count with Ose only leading by 530 votes.
