Sacramento Preparing For Golden 1 Center Parking Surge

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The Golden 1 Center opens in 130 days, and a new app revealed by the City of Sacramento is hoping to make parking easy.

Gearing up for the grand opening of Golden 1 Center, the Kings' new downtown home court has evolved from a vision to an actual view.

Sacramento Kings President Chris Granger told the Sacramento City Council he is zero percent concerned about opening up on time.

"We continue to hit or exceed all of our goals," he said.

With the clock counting down to a first tip-off, the city is also getting game-day ready.

Sacramento city staff unveiled a name for a new proposed parking app Sac Park with the tagline, find your spot.

"Sac Park will be a part of the ticket purchasing process," said city spokeswoman Linda Tucker.

Private and public parking lot operators are teaming up to allow users to reserve parking in downtown garages and lots ahead of Golden 1 Center games and events. The City is also considering creating new wider crosswalks around the arena to accommodate pedestrians.

The app is currently not publicly available.
