Sacramento Prepares For March Madness

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – After a ten year absence, the Capitol city is getting ready for March Madness.

This week there will be eight teams fighting their way to the Final Four.

Sacramento will host the first two rounds of a regional in the tournament, this time at the Golden 1 Center.

And that means thousands of fans fighting for rooms and other accommodations – and local restaurants and businesses are looking to cash in.

"We're anticipating anything. We're in for a very, very, very busy day," said Lance Laxson, manage at Sauced BBQ & Spirits. "Probably are busiest weekend ever."

Parts of rounds one and two will be played at the Golden 1 Center Friday and Sunday.

"It's a $5 million economic impact, conservatively," said Mike Sophia, director of the Sacramento Sports Commission. "People [will be] coming from all over to watch their teams play."
