Sacramento Police Academy Put To The Test With High-Tech Scenario Training

SACRAMENTO (CBS13)- A new dangerous scenario simulator training for Sacramento Police Academy puts police to the test.

Scenarios like an active shooter at a school or hostage situations are simulated to officers through a new high-tech training system.

What's different about this system is that it surrounds the officer with five large screens with fluid interactive scenarios making it to feel as realistic as possible.

CBS13 reporter Ron Jones, a former Oakland Police Sergeant, tested and completed a course of this new simulator claiming 'this training has gone to a totally different level.'

The goal is to have officers learn from their mistakes in the game so that they don't make them on the street.

The system was approved by the City Council to improve their officers' decision making skills.
