Carjacking Suspect In Custody After Hours-Long Standoff With Police In Oak Park

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The latest on a standoff between a carjacking suspect and police in Oak Park:

2:55 p.m.

Police say the suspect has been safely taken into custody.

Negotiators and SWAT teams were at the scene for more than three hours, police say.

The name of the suspect has not been released at this point.

1:40 p.m.

Crisis negotiators are trying to get an armed carjacking suspect who has barricaded himself inside an Oak Park area home to surrender.

The incident is happening along the 3500 block of San Jose Way.

Exactly what led up to the situation is unclear, but a SWAT team and crisis negotiators are now at the scene.

Officers say the suspect is believed to be armed with a handgun.
