Sacramento Men Sentenced To More Than 17 Years In Prison For Botched Armored Car Robbery
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - A federal judge has sentenced to prison two men who tried to rob an armored car in a Wal-Mart store parking lot in Sacramento.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says Monday Raymell Lamar Eason was sentenced to 18 years and eight months in prison and Keith Lamont Smith to 17 years and eight months in prison for conspiring to rob an armored car and attempted robbery of an armored car.
According to court documents, the day of the botched robbery Eason, 44, waited for the guard to leave the store with its currency deposits and shot him with a Taser while Smith, 38, waited nearby in the getaway car.
Authorities say the guard recovered faster than anticipated and shot Eason, who was arrested shortly after. Smith was arrested later that day.
