Sacramento Kings PG Darren Collison Faces Domestic Violence Charges

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Sacramento Kings point guard Darren Collison will face misdemeanor domestic violence charges, the Placer County District Attorney's Office announced on Friday.

Collison, 29, will face a count of domestic violence causing injury and one count of domestic battery of a spouse in what the district attorney's office calls "a closely related, but separate incident occurring on the same evening."

He also faces a charge from failing to appear at an April 21 court hearing for driving with a suspended license

Collison was arrested in the early morning of May 30 after deputies responded to a report from a woman who said she was being assaulted inside a Granite Bay home.

Collison was released on $55,000 bail and is due back in court on July 11.

Collison played 74 games for the Kings in the 2015-16 season and averaged 14 points, 2.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. Collison recently finished his second season with the Kings. He's played 7 seasons in the NBA.

Collison signed a three-year, $16 million deal with the Kings in the 2014 offseason. That contract runs through the end of next season and would pay him more than $5 million this season.
