Sacramento Fire Department Investigating I-5 Grass Fires

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- Sacramento Fire Department Units are clearing a scene along Interstate 5 near Sutterville Road after a series of fires slowed due to thick smoke decreasing the visibility of drivers, according the the department's public information office.

The fires were roughly one half of an acre in total size. Investigators are working to determine the cause(s) of the flames and whether or not they are related to one another.

"Investigators are really on high alert right now," said spokesman Chris Harvey, referencing both these incidents and the potential of arson and suspicious activities during fire season.

CBS13 will have further details on the investigation as they become available.
