Fire Crews Rescues Hawk Stuck In Gutter

ELK (CBS13) – A fire crew rescued a hawk that somehow got its talons stuck in a leaf gutter guard on Tuesday.

Sacramento Fire says they and a Cosumnes Fire crew responded to an Elk Grove house after a resident came home and found the hawk hanging by its talons from a gutter. The bird was tired and limp, firefighters say.

The firefighters went up on ladders and got the bird down.

After bringing the hawk down, the bird stood up for about 30 seconds to clear its head, then flew away.

A Sacramento Fire official says they've been called to rescue a humming bird, and a falcon even flew into one of their stations last year, but they can't recall ever rescuing a hawk in recent memory.
