Sacramento Fire Chief Gary Loesch Says He Was Fired By The City
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Sacramento Fire Department Chief Gary Loesch is no longer an employee with the City of Sacramento, according to a city representative.
Assistant City Manager Leyne Milstein has been appointed as the Interim Fire Chief while the city nationally recruits for the position.
Loesch spoke exclusively with CBS13 News on Friday morning.
"Not having a uniform to put on after 36 and a half years … it's breaking my heart right now," Loesch said.

Loesch wouldn't detail what happened, but he said he was fired in a city hall meeting that lasted just seconds.
The reason for Loesch no longer being an employee was not given by the city, but a spokesperson with the City of Sacramento, Tim Swanson, had this to say:
"The City does not comment on individual personnel matters. However, I can confirm that Gary Loesch is no longer an employee of the City of Sacramento. Assistant City Manager Leyne Milstein has been appointed as Interim Fire Chief while the City conducts a national recruitment in the coming months."
Loesch was sworn in as chief on Oct. 2, 2018. He took over for Chief Walt W. White, who served from 2014 to 2018.
