Sacramento County Dog Crate Fire Reward Increased To $17,000
SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) — The reward for information leading to the arrest of a suspect who set a dog on fire, the Sacramento Society For the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals announced on Monday.
Five partnering agencies and 30 individual donors are offering a $17,000 reward to find who set a live dog on fire inside a crate on Becerra Way near Marconi Avenue.
The dog was found on Wednesday morning, just past midnight by Sac Metro firefighters who were responding to a report of burning trash in Sacramento County.
"The dog was alive when it was set on fire," Capt. Shani Cornell said.
In addition to the 30 donors, Sac Metro, Sacramento County, the Sacramento SPCA, the Humane Society and the Animal Legal Defense Fund have also contributed to the reward.
