Suspect Shot By Officer During DEA Warrant Search In Sacramento County

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CBS13) – A suspect was shot by an officer during a Drug Enforcement Administration warrant search in Sacramento County Thursday morning.

The scene was along the 9900 block of Palm Grove Drive, near Rancho Cordova.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, the US Marshals were working with DEA agents to serve a search warrant at a home in the area. Officers made their way into the home and were confronted by a man who was allegedly pointing a firearm at them.

Officers then opened fired, hitting the man in the hand. He was taken to the hospital for the non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Another person, who the sheriff's office says was the original subject of the search warrant, was also taken into custody. Multiple firearms were discovered by officers, authorities say.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office will be investigating the shooting.
