Sacramento Airport Turns Into Crime Scene For Emergency Training

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) –The Sacramento International Airport turned into a massive crime scene overnight for an emergency training exercise.

Dozens of local, state and federal agencies, and actors took part.

The two-hour drill took months to prepare. The exercise included active-shooter scenario with casualties and injuries and a bomb squad deactivating an IED.

"It was about as real life as you can get in a sterile environment all the responding tactical teams and officers had no idea what they were going to encounter. They didn't know if they were going to encounter one shooter or multiple shooters," said Deputy Tony Turnbull from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

Officials say every aspect of the drill will be graded then reviewed.
