SACRAMENTO – Detectives say two people are now under arrest in connection to the 2024 killing of a man in Sacramento.

Back on Feb. 17, 2024, Sacramento police responded near Edmonton and Northstead drives to investigate reports of a shooting. At the scene, officers found Kejion Marques Cousins-Starkes shot in a vehicle.

Cousins-Starkes was taken to the hospital but later died, police say. He was 26.

Homicide detectives took over the investigation and interviewed possible witnesses, but there were no significant updates in the case until Tuesday when Sacramento police announced two arrests had been made.

Michael Escobar, a 25-year-old West Sacramento resident, and Pedro Carrillo Jr., a 23-year-old Galt resident, are now facing homicide-related charges. They have both been booked into Sacramento County Jail.

No other details about the investigation have been released.
