Sac State University's Corpse Flower In Bloom

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The much-anticipated bloom of Sacramento State University's corpse flower has finally happened.

Earlier in March, the university said in a statement the flower was close to blooming, and would do so by around March 20th, revealing its short-lived flower whose fragrance is described by some as rotting flesh. Two weeks later the flower has opened, and as expected, it lives up to its name.

The bloom typically lasts 24-48 hours, experts say.
