Roseville Man Accused Of Stabbing Father To Death Released From Hospital, Booked Into Jail

ROSEVILLE (CBS13) – A Roseville man who was hospitalized last week after he allegedly stabbed his father and attempting to kill a police officer was released from the hospital on Sunday and booked into jail.

Patrick Allen Burke, 55, is scheduled to make his first court appearance on May 13 at 1 p.m. at the Placer County Courthouse, according to a statement from the Roseville Police Dept.

The alleged attacks happened on Tuesday, May 6 at a home in the 1100 block of Windermere Avenue. Officers and fire crews were called to the home at around 6:20 a.m. on reports of a stabbing. There, officers were greeted by Burke who was allegedly holding a large knife and  tried to attack an officer, forcing the officer to shoot.

More officers were called to the scene and the stabbing victim, 85-year-old Lonnie Burke, was found inside the home. Police say the Lonnie had been stabbed multiple times.

Both Patrick and Lonnie were taken to Sutter Roseville Medical Center. Lonnie died of his injuries Wednesday, police say, while Patrick was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators have not said what led to the attack, but the incident is still being investigated. The officer who fired at Patrick was placed on paid administrative leave.
