Roseville Considering Building $34 Million Sports Complex With Hotel Taxes

ROSEVILLE (CBS13) — Roseville may build a $34 million dollar sports complex, hoping it improves the city's economy, but it's a gamble.

To pay for the complex, the city may levy a tax on hotels in several nearby towns.

There's no facility like the one proposed by the City of Roseville. The city hopes to corner the market on youth sports tourism with the complex.

The move will create a business district that will give them the ability to assess themselves between $4 and $6 a night, per room. That money would be used to build the complex.

Officials say the hotels are on board, because they understand they may share the tourism dollars the complex would create.
