Rocklin Man Hit, Killed By Big Rig While Riding In Davis Double Century

SOLANO COUNTY (CBS13) – A Rocklin man is dead after he struck by a big rig while riding his bike in Solano County Saturday morning.

The collision happened on Sparling Lane and Trenton Road in between Davis and Dixon.

California Highway Patrol investigators say the man was taking part in the Davis Double Century bike race and rolled through a stop sign on Tremont Road. A big rig heading on Sparling Road, which has no stop sign, then hit the bicyclist.

Paramedics pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene.

The road was closed for a few hours as CHP investigated the scene and the race was re-routed.

Authorities have not released the name of the bicyclist, only saying was a 50-year-old man from Rocklin. The truck driver has been identified as 62-year-old Dixon resident Jose Rios.
