Rocklin Golf Club Liquidation Sale Happening This Weekend

ROCKLIN (CBS) -- A staple of the Rocklin community will be no more after the weekend. The owner of the Rocklin Golf Club is liquidating everything on the site.

"People want a little bit of the history," said Barbara Velasco with Hand Pickin. She's been contracted to run the estate sale.

Everything, from banquet chairs to golf supplies, and even the kitchen sink, is for sale.

"From the floor to the ceiling and even the ceiling itself," said Velasco, showing us around.

The course doors closed about a year ago for good.

"Oh, it was really nice; it was beautiful," said Kelly Rohl, whose property backs up to the course.

The manicured fairways of old were a selling point for Rohl and her family several years ago.

"It was real fun to sit out," said Rohl, "you could see the golfers go by."

Now, "It's an eyesore," said Rohl.

The property owner wanted to build housing on part of the land to increase revenue and keep the course running. But the Rocklin city council unanimously denied that request. The owner decided to let the property go.

Driving around, for sale signs can now be seen on several front lawns.

"There just sitting on the market a little bit longer," said realtor Kevin McDonald.

McDonald says the uncertainty of the course has everyone wondering what's next.

"It hasn't necessarily impacted the values as much as the desirability," he said.

Homes, condos, or a new course may be in future plans, but for now, it's all rolling hills of brown grass and dying plants.

The estate sale runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. Some prized pieces from the old Whitney mansion were sold to the Rocklin historical society. Everything else must go.
