Robbery, Shooting Leaves Elk Grove Neighborhood On Edge

ELK GROVE (CBS13) — An Elk Grove community is on edge after a neighbor was shot and robbed in his driveway.

The robbery happened on Hume Court near Emerald Vista Drive.

Police say the victim was just standing in his driveway when two armed and dangerous suspects rolled up.

"It's something that we're not used to here," said neighbor Darin Stone.

Hume Court is filled with rows of mature homes and trees, but after shots rang out on Tuesday evening, it was filled with fear.

Investigators say Stone's neighbor was robbed at gunpoint, and was shot during a struggle in the upper body. Thieves made off with undisclosed items.

Police say the victim's wife was inside the house when she heard the gunshots, and when she came outside, one of the suspects shot at her. Fortunately the bullet missed her and their small child inside.

Police say the two suspects got away and their descriptions are pretty vague. They were last seen driving away in a dark-colored American-made vehicle.
