Grass fire in Rio Linda prompts some evacuations
RIO LINDA — Firefighters battled a grass fire in Rio Linda on Monday that prompted some evacuations.
The scene was near E and 24th streets. Metro Fire of Sacramento crews are at the scene.
Five acres of grass were burned along with multiple outbuildings and vehicles across three properties, firefighters say. The evacuations were for E Street north of I and 24th Street east of 20th and have since been lifted.
As of 3:45 p.m., Metro Fire says crews would remain at the scene through the rest of the afternoon to monitor for hotspots.
Exactly what started the fire remains unclear.
