Rideout Health To Settle Controlled Substance Allegations For $2.5 Milllion
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Rideout Health has agreed to pay nearly $2.5 million in a settlement over how it handled controlled substances at three of its facilities.
The health group is accused of improperly tracking thousands of transactions involving controlled substances at Fremont Medical Center, Rideout Memorial Hospital and Feather River Surgery Center.
The California Department of Pharmacy informed the Drug Enforcement Administration one of the facilities had an expired DEA registration, while pharmacy technicians at another had been transporting controlled substances for two years with few security controls.
Without those security controls, prosecutors say drugs can slip out for nonmedical uses.
Rideout Health will also be under a three-year compliance plan.
