Retired Sacramento City Councilman Wants To Return To City Hall

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) Former Sacramento City Councilman and Sacramento Sheriff Robbie Waters wants to get back into politics.

Waters is seeking appointment to the Sacramento City Planning and Design Commission, a board that has voted on several controversial issues in the past year including the proposed gas station in Curtis Park, and the Capitol Towers project.

Waters served on the city council for 16 years (1994-2010). He says "I'm a native of Sacramento, born and raised here so I've seen quite a growth in this city."

Two other people, Alan LoFaso and Jia Wang-Connelly are competing with Waters to fill two open seats.

Councilmember Angelique Ashby, who is on the selection committee, said there is "Three exceptional candidates that have done a lot for Sacramento".

The full city council is expected to make a decision in January.
