Coach Preki Leaving Republic FC, Favorite For Premier League Position

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Sacramento Republic FC's head coach Predrag "Preki" Radosavljević is stepping down, the club announced Wednesday.

At the Wednesday conference, the club announced that Coach Preki had accepted a position in the United Kingdom, but it was not said where. Preki is reportedly a favorite to take over coaching Leicester City, an English Premier League club.

"This was not a decision I made lightly. The opportunity ahead is a lifetime dream for me and a chance to challenge myself at the highest level of the game," Preki said in a statement.

Paul Buckle, an English Premier League vet like Preki, will be taking over as head coach of Republic FC as of July 12.

Coach Preki led Republic FC to a United Soccer League championship last season. He will coach his final game with Republic FC on Saturday against LA Galaxy II.

The 52-year-old Preki also coached for Chivas USA and Toronto FC, both Major League Soccer clubs, before joining Republic FC in 2014.
