SACRAMENTO (CBS13/AP) - A strange bright light streaked across the sky in California Saturday night.

Viewers all across the state reported seeing the light.

There were event a few reports from people in Las Vegas and Arizona seeing the object.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, the object was a Naval test fire off the coast of California.

A Navy spokesman told The San Diego Union-Tribune the Navy Strategic Systems Programs conducted the missile test Saturday in the Pacific Test Range northwest of Los Angeles.

Cmdr. Ryan Perry said the launches are conducted on a frequent basis to ensure the continued reliability of the system and that information about such test launches is classified prior to the launch.

The National Weather Service originally said the object might be related to the Taurid meteor shower, which is set to peak in early to mid November.
