Bird Strike Forces Plane To Land At Sacramento International Airport

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A reported bird strike has forced a plane to land for inspection at Sacramento International Airport Friday morning.

Airport officials say that United Airlines flight 1596, which was on its way to Denver from Sacramento, took off and a bird hit the plane around 10 minutes into the flight.

The plane has since landed safely at Sacramento International.

Airport officials say the bird hit the plane's engine. Maintenance crews are currently inspecting the plane.

All people on board the plane were recommended to different flights, a United Airlines representative said.
