Record Crowd Expected For Wine And Grape Symposium At Sacramento Convention Center

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The Sacramento Convention Center will be home to the future of wine, as 14,000 people attend the nation's largest wine industry show.

There's a lot more than grapes that go into that bottle there is a lot of cool science and technology and it's all happening here in Sacramento.

The Unified Wine and Grape Symposium is a who's who of wine production. Giant vats are hauled into the convention for the event that looks like a science fair at times.

In addition to talk about the shape of bottles and what caps bottles, the drought will also be a hot topic, and how much it will impact wine production. Several booths will offer ways for winemakers to water less.

And it's not just wine—distillers are getting in on the action too.

More than 14,000 people are expected to attend, which would be a new record for the event. It begins Tuesday night and runs through Thursday.
