Firefighters stop Rancho Cordova car wash fire from reaching gas pumps

RANCHO CORDOVA – A hectic scene played out at a gas station car wash that caught fire early Monday morning.

Crews from Sacramento Metro Fire responded to the Shell gas station on Zinfandel Drive around 2 a.m. and found a car wash building had gone up in flames.

Firefighters immediately started protecting the gas pumps. The minimart of the gas station was damaged, however.

No injuries were reported, Metro Fire says.

Exactly what started the fire is under investigation.
