Police: One Man Dead In Rancho Cordova Shooting, Motive And Suspect Still Unknown
RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) — One man is dead after a shooting this morning in Rancho Cordova, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department spokesman Sergeant Zach Hatch.
The shooting happened around 9:40 a.m. Saturday in the area of Astral Drive and Burline Street. When deputies and Rancho Cordova Police officers arrived at the scene, they said they located a victim who had sustained at least one gunshot wound to his upper body. Investigators later said he had multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim, a male adult, was pronounced dead by fire personnel on the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
Police were still on the scene of the crime Saturday evening, investigating the events leading up to the deadly shooting.
Michelle Ming lives on the same block as the shooting. She didn't see the shooting take place, but was shaken when she learned it resulted in a man's death.
"I heard about five, maybe six gunshots," Ming said. "I have no idea what happened. Hopefully, somebody saw something and can come forward and say something, that they saw something and knows what happened."
The sheriff's department homicide investigators said they have not identified a motive for this crime or established any suspect information. They said the shooting happened in the roadway, none of the houses on Astral Drive were involved.
