Rain Creates Rush On Windshield Wipers At Sacramento Stores

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A wet start to the week was a welcome sight in the Sacramento area and in the Sierra on Monday.

Rain brought traffic to a halt along many roadways in Sacramento County, as slick surfaces and high speeds caused drivers to spin out. The collisions meant heavy congestion for the morning commute.

Monday's rain caught some drivers by surprise, sending them to automotive stores in search of new windshield wipers.

Off the roads, the rain is a welcome sight for dry lawns and trees, but won't make a big difference for some.

Arborist Michael Dupont says when residents were told to cut back on watering, many went too far, leaving trees stressed to the point that Monday's rain won't help.

"The trees that are highly stressed now will show the results of that for years to come," he said.
