Raiders Sign RB Trent Richardson

The Oakland Raiders announced that the team has signed free-agent running back Trent Richardson.

Richardson was the 3rd pick of the 2012 draft and rushed for 11 TDs during his rookie campaign with the Cleveland Browns before being traded to the Colts in the 2013 season.

The Colts traded a first-round pick for Richardson in hopes he could spark their running game. Richardson had two disappointing seasons and was inactive for two playoff games. He also failed to make weight 14 times, according to ESPN.

Richardson told ESPN.com that he's ready for a fresh start:

"I'll be one of the top running backs from here on out," Richardson said. "They ruled Marshawn Lynch off in his third year. Look at what he's doing now. My next stop, I'll be the starter. I still have my pride, and I know who I am."

He rushed for 977 yards and had six rushing touchdowns in his two seasons with the Colts.

Richardson joins a Raiders backfield that includes Latavius Murray and Roy Helu.
