Wildfire Destroys Home In Newcastle

NEWCASTLE (CBS13) - Cal Fire crews are battling fires in Placer and Nevada Counties on Thursday afternoon.

One fire is burning near Quartz Mine and Wise Roads. Crews report that the fire is about three acres. Flames may have spread to a structure, crews say. Ground and air crews are being dispatched.

Cal Fire also responded to a fire on Grizzly Hill Road in North San Juan, north of Grass Valley. The fire spread to a home where it caused extensive damage to the attic. Firefighters say the house is a complete loss.

Aircraft helping fight the fire near Quartz mine have moved to fight the fire in North San Juan.

Homeowners were able to get their pets out before the fire reached their home.
