Pollock Pines Man, 28, Killed After Hitting Tree Off Highway 50

CAMINO (CBS13) – Authorities say a driver was killed after he lost control of his car and crashed in El Dorado County.

The incident happened Friday morning. According to California Highway Patrol, a white Honda Civic was heading west on Highway 50 between Placerville and Pollock Pines when, a little after 5 a.m., the driver lost control.

CHP says the car then hit a tree that was off the right shoulder of the roadway near 8 Mile Road.

The driver, 28-year-old Pollock Pines resident Logan Terpening, was killed in the crash.

Investigators note that it was snowing and the roadway was wet at the time of the crash.

"This is a devastating reminder to all drivers, as weather systems move through our region, to slow down, drive with caution, and arrive at your destination safely," CHP commented in a release.

CHP is still investigating the crash.
