Police: Woman found dead in West Sacramento home

Latest details on deadly discovery in West Sacramento

WEST SACRAMENTO — Authorities are investigating after a woman was found dead inside a West Sacramento home Sunday.

The West Sacramento Police Department said a deceased 55-year-old woman was located at around 12:30 p.m. in a home on Rogers Street.

The cause of death was not yet known and police could not yet say if there was foul play, though. Police were unable to tell CBS13 whether the woman had any physical injuries on her body which would indicate a murder.

"This is a very wonderful, well-established neighborhood. This is very unusual," said Officer Scott Farnsworth, a spokesperson for West Sacramento police.

West Sacramento police said blood was found in the home but could not confirm if it was related to the woman's death.

Neighbors like James Andrews say he's never seen anything like this in the 28 years he's lived there.

"Obviously, something bad happened and that's a rarity here," Andrews said.
