Police: Woman Admits To Beating Neighbor To Death With Baseball Bat

SAN MATEO, Calif. (AP) - Police in Northern California say a San Mateo woman turned herself in after allegedly beating her neighbor to death with a baseball bat.

San Mateo police said in a statement Sunday that Brenda Martinez went to the San Mateo Police Department Saturday night and approached officers in the front lobby and alerted them to a killing and implicated herself as a suspect.

Officers responded to a residence where they found an unresponsive 66-year-old woman. They say the victim experienced "obvious head trauma." She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police add that evidence shows the 40-year-old Martinez is the "sole suspect in this crime." She allegedly killed her neighbor with a baseball bat.
