Police: Woman Admits To Killing Daughter With Crucifix

OKLAHOMA CITY  - An Oklahoma City woman is behind bars, accused of killing her daughter by forcing a religious medallion and a crucifix down her throat. Police say the woman thought her daughter was possessed by Satan.

Just after 2 p.m. on Sunday, police were called out a home to perform a welfare check. Inside, they found the body of Geneva Gomez, 33, lying down with blood on her body; and with a large crucifix on her chest and visible signs of trauma to her face and head, according to CBS affiliate KWTV.

Evidence found at the home indicated that Gomez' mother, Juanita Gomez, 50, attacked and killed her, say authorities.

Juanita allegedly told police she attacked Geneva because Geneva was possessed by the devil. With swollen hands and bruises on her arms admittedly from fighting Geneva in an attempt to "rid Satan from her daughter's body", she admitted to punching Geneva and trying to force the items into her mouth until it started bleeding, according to an Oklahoma Police Department statement.

She said she watched Geneva die then placed Geneva's body in the shape of a cross.

Juanita was arrested and booked into jail on the charge of first-degree murder. She is being denied bail.
