Police: Street Racer Had Baby In Backseat At Time Of Wreck

SAN DIEGO (AP) - Authorities have arrested a driver they say crashed his car in San Diego after street racing and leading authorities on a high-speed chase with his 6-month-old child in the back seat.

KGTV-TV (http://bit.ly/1SJeqxo ) says nobody was seriously hurt in Sunday night's escapade.

Authorities say a Highway Patrol officer tried to pull over a Honda Civic that was racing another car on Interstate 15.

A 100-mph chase ensued that ended with the Civic leaving the freeway and smashing into a Toyota Corolla at an intersection.

Authorities say they found the baby in a flipped-over car seat. They also allegedly found alcohol and marijuana in the car.

The 26-year-old driver could face charges of child endangerment, street racing, evading authorities and driving with a suspended license.
